Karaman stressed that the annual turnover of the company is more than 24 million Turkish liras, adding that in 2019 they intend to double this figure, writes Hurriyet.
Previously, theater seats were supplied mainly by Chinese companies, but, according to the head of R Design, the price advantage has disappeared. “South Korean filmmakers entering the Turkish market have changed all our products. Today, South Koreans are our main buyers. We initially started exporting our goods to Korea, ”he said.
The manufacturer added that they also set up exports to Indonesia, Vietnam and Russia.
"In the near future, we will begin to manufacture seats for American theaters," he added. According to Karaman, the company since 2018 also develops special mini-cinemas for villas and they have many famous customers.
The company, founded by Karaman and his family in 1985, initially produced office furniture, starting to produce theater chairs after a proposal from a leading Turkish film company. For the last ten years, the film industry in Turkey has been developing at a rather rapid pace, and investments in cinemas have grown as the audience expands.
