Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of Turkish apples through Belarus

“Due to the high risks of importing“ sanctioned ”products to Russia through the territory of Belarus under the guise of products made in Turkey, the Rosselkhoznadzor decided to ban the re-export of fresh apples from March 22, 2019, originating from the Republic of Belarus,” quotes Melano RIA News.

She pointed out that the Russian office had repeatedly drawn the attention of the Belarusian colleagues to the need to take measures to confirm the country of origin of products from third countries that were “cleared” in Belarus and certified for re-export to Russia.

At the same time, the representative of the Rosselkhoznadzor said, cases of import of products from Belarus accompanied by phytosanitary certificates for export with inaccurate information about the country of origin continue.

“Thus, in March of this year, there was a sharp increase in the supply of fresh apples to the territory of the Russian Federation, which, according to the documents, were produced in Turkey. The products were also accompanied by phytosanitary certificates for re-export issued by the Belarusian side, ”Melano said.

At the same time, she continued, the movement of products proceeded according to an illogical scheme: instead of directly entering the port of Novorossiysk from Turkey, the goods went along the route Turkey-Latvia-Belarus-Russia. This caused the Rosselkhoznadzor to doubt the legality of such deliveries and distrust of the data specified in the Belarusian re-export certificates.
